Mother's day art sessions went very well.
It was a pleasure to have kids come along and paint with their mums in the studio. So relaxing!!
I'm really hoping they continue this at home. Its obvious where these kids get their talents from!
Everyone is loving the plasticine/modelling clay!
It's not too late to get yours. I have 3kg packs in stock plus tricks on how to make it last longer, and pllllenty for your whole family to enjoy!

Dec 16th Just finished this crazy cat mural for Chorus, on Horne St, over by the hospital, here in Hamilton. Thanks to my lovely son Noah for helping me.
I LOVE this jewellery SO much!! This term I ordered every student a necklace with their own art work in it, as my end of year gift.

Nov 22 We had just had Daron Parton, illustrator, visit us today. The boys absolutely loved him! This was part of Felix's prize, from national art comp Kaboom, that I entered him in.

Term 4 is painting. Got these awesome plywood circles cut, and made up a massive example myself over the holidays.
We ran a stop motion animation workshop on the school holidays, which was really cool. This 7 year old boy Aditya really stood out. I am quite sure he is going to carry on with animation, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with in the future. Serious talent there.

These are beautiful fabric wall hangings from a school holiday workshop. These are on display until first week in August.
I have been a Red Cross Refugee Support Volunteer for the past 8 months, and this is the family I was paired up with. English is a huge barrier for these guys to get ahead, so I invited them to All Smilez to join in on this workshop. Ruth did the sewing for the sides of the student's work, and earned some income from this. She is looking forward to being involved more in the future. Of course it was a pleasure seeing Emmily creating with us too!!! |

Here's a power box I just painted with my son. Its on Edgecumbe st, Hamilton. This was funded by Chorus, who ran an art competition where 9 artists were chosen by Hamilton City Council, to paint boxes around the city.

Artist of the week, feb 24th, is Lachlan Mollard, age 7. Lachy has his head down working hard ALL class. He is keen to learn new techniques, and this week he was learning about shading and blending with pencil and coloured pencil. Well done Lachy. I love your creations!!!

I'm sooo lucky. I got to work with some great kids out in Morrinsville at St Joseph's Catholic School for the past few days, and this is what we came up with. I just love it. Thanks so much to everyone for having me!
Ooo I just learned how to sign people up to my emails . and I also learned how to MAKE fancy emails. I'm so excited. Now I can make sure no one misses out on what's up at All Smilez ideas, solutions, and inspirational ideas you can get your kids doing at home, as well classes you can book in on.... Since I have a small space, I can only accommate so many people, so get in quick if you fancy some art classes for you kids or yourself.
Term 1 2015 classes have kicked off.. some great learning going on here. Soon we will have some work to put up in the cafe :) I showed this video in class. Feel free to watch it again at home with the kids and discuss the idea of balance.

Ohinewai School - fundraiser Oct 28- Nov 7 - on TRADE ME
The year 7/8 students at Ohinewai School (north of Huntly) have created these awesome big paintings, and they are currently up in Davies Corner Cafe in Davies Corner, Hamilton. There are 10 paintings altogether, 5 are hung at the moment, but I will be swapping them soon. Visit Trademe.co.nz and search "Ohinewai" to view all 10 listings. Please support these super cool kids.

I often do private drawing or painting lessons for adults. I am happy to help build confidence in creativity. I hear so often adults say "oh I wish I could draw." But you can. We all can. If you're not sure where to start, just doodle. Doodle, doodle and doodle some more. I'm teaching an art elective at Hukanui Primary School each Wednesday. This is the week we studied Impressionism. Not bad work for Year 3/4 kidlings!
We studied Leonardo one class, and learned about face proportions. The kids all loved putting their own faces in the Mona Lisa app I had on my iPad. :)

Till July 31, visit the Civic Centre in Huntly to view our Beyond Violence exhibition. 3 of us artists worked with primary schools in the Huntly area to raise awareness of family violence. The Jam Bus came out record songs the children wrote and you can hear and see it all at the civic all month. Opens at 10am.
Till July 26th, you can visit Red Cherry Cafe and see the large canvas paintings from my advanced painting Term 3 class. They turned out amazing. Please have a look and let me know what you think :)

I'm working on a 19 metre mural when I get a spare day and the weather is right! Love it! Here is a bit of a preview.. will put up a photo of the finished mural when it's complete.. hopefully next week, but weather dependent!
Afterschool art - Term 2
I have a nice small class of gorgeous young ladies this term. We are working on large canvas paintings. I CAN'T WAIT to see all of the girls finished work altogether! We will hopefully be able to hold a group exhibition .. so will let you know where and when.

term 1 Learn to Paint Like a Pro
This term I have a class of 6 talented young ladies. We have been creating beauuuutiful paintings. The girls have gained a good understanding of colour theory and can put it into practice in their own individually planned art work.

What a cool date to complete a mural! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the students at Kimihia school and I'm stoked that we managed to finish it in the last week of school. Have a fantastic holiday Kimihia kids, and I'll see you agian next year adding more colour around your school!

Ohinewai School was the winner in a nationwide art competition
amongst rural children.
Each year dairy farmer cooperative, LIC, and Stallion Plastics of
Palmerston North, sponsor an art competition for rural children participating in
calf club. There are a range of prizes for individual entrants but the
drawcard, this year, was from Schools after the prize of 3 x iPads.
LIC's Communications Manager, Clare Bayly, was on hand today to present the
iPads to Ohinewai School saying that their entry - of calf heads complete with
EID ear tags - was innovative and a clear winner.

Lots of our individual entries won too. Congratulations to Nathan, Jake, Ryan... Yahooooooo!
The juniors drew and painted these big calf heads, then the yr 7/8s arranged compositions in photography. The yr 5/6s learned about photography and editing skills for a farm visit, and the yr1s made clay calf heads and more..
We made a slide show of all of our work.

I made this painting with the help of some more lovelies in the Year 7/8 class at Ohinewai School. Then we aucioned it off on Trade Me.
We also held a Red Nose Day, and raised a heap of money then, along with the auction, and gave it all to Cure Kids!

this mural is 15 metres long. I designed it with year 7/8 students at Ohinewai School. I am stoked to see how well it came together and loved working with the wonderful intermediate kids.

this is a mural designed fully by year 5/6 students at Hukanui School. They asked me to come in to transfer their design by freehand drawing onto the water tank. I then stayed with them to mix all the colours, help them blend them on the mural. I am very impressed with their work. It looks amazing!
